PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES

  • Serve as commander in chief of armed forces

  • Grant reprieves and pardons for federal offenses

  • Appoint Cabinet officials, White House staff and Supreme Court justices

  • Makes treaties with foreign nations, pending Senate approval

  • Works with Congress to introduce new legislation 

  • Appoints ambassadors

Term: 4 years

VICE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES

  • President of the Senate, but holds no vote unless there is an equal divide 

  • Acts as an advisor to the president 

  • Becomes acting president if the sitting president is unable to continue the current term

Term: 4 years

US SENATOR

  • Write, debate and pass laws for the United States

  • Impeach federal officials

  • Serve on various committees

  • Agrees to treaties

  • Confirm federal officials (i.e., Supreme Court Justices)

Term: 6 years

US HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

  • Write, debate and pass laws for the United States

  • Impeach federal officials

  • Serve on various committees
