VOTER REGISTRATION

You must be registered to vote before you can visit the polls in 2020. 

To participate in the Primary Election, you must be registered to vote by Monday, May 4, 2020. If you miss the Primary Election voter registration deadline, and want to register before the General Election, you are able to register between Tuesday, June 16, 2020 - Monday, October 5, 2020.

If you are unsure if you are registered to vote, visit Indiana Voters to check! If you need to update any information, such as legal name or address, you can easily make necessary changes on the Indiana Voters website. 

You have the right to vote in Indiana if:

  • You are both a U.S. citizen and a resident of Indiana.

  • You will be at least 18 years old on or before November 3, 2020. You can register to vote at 17 years old and vote in the primary election as long as you will be 18 years old on or before November 3, 2020.

  • You are not currently in prison after being convicted of a crime. 

  • You have lived in the precinct where you vote for at least 30 days prior to the election

  • You are registered to vote.

WHAT'S ON THE BALLOT?

Take a look to see which positions you will be voting for this year. School Board races are nonpartisan, so they will only be on the General Election ballot in November. 

* Indicates races that party nominee is selected by state delegates. These positions will not be on the primary ballot, but will be on the General Election ballot. 

** Indicates a position that is appointed by the Governor and will not be on the ballot for public vote.

  • State Superintendent of Public Instruction**

  • State Delegates

COUNTY RACES:

  • County Recorder

  • County Surveyor

  • County Coroner

  • County Board of Commissioners, Districts 2 & 3

SCHOOL BOARD RACES:

  • Crown Point School BoardAt Large, Districts 2 & 3​

  • East Chicago School Board: At Large (2 Seats)

  • Griffith School Board: At Large (2 Seats)

  • Hammond School Board: At Large (2 Seats)

  • Hanover School Board: At Large, Districts 1 & 2)

  • Lake Central School Board: At Large, Dyer & St. John
